Afternoon in the Shade!

In the heat of the day this iguanas enjoys an afternoon in the shade. Though found in most parts of tropical South America, their habitat overlaps urban development and are found in many suburban parts of cities. This one was taken in Barrancabermeja, Santander, Colombia.
This is a Green Iguana or common iguana (Iguana iguana). It has a wide distribution from Brazil to Paraguay and north as far as Mexico…and somewhat rarely in southwestern US states.

Yes, he’s more in the sun than the shade but I had to lighten up parts of him so he would show up better! Lol! It was 45ª C and very hot…even in the shade of these trees!

Thank you Judy!! They’re fascinating to watch and to try and see!! It takes quite a while to adjust to the camouflage in order to see them but once you do they can be so interesting as they move from tree to tree!!
