Aawww! Great shot of a beautiful bird! I like the way he is looking at you, posing, with an inquisitive look in his eye. Doesn’t look ready to fly off, so not quite scared, just like: Hey mate, what do you want?

He looks used to your presence; have you watched him for a long time before making the shot?

  • Blair Wainman replied

Thanks Johanne! I think he was checking me out, cautiously! There were a whole host of birds coming to feast on these bananas. I think he had one eye on me and one of the others who were waiting their turn! It was quite entertaining! I have a whole bund of this one!

I’ve never seen one of these before!!!! The colors are so crisp – very pretty!!

  • Blair Wainman replied

Thank you Lori!! I had the best time at this Orchid Farm…and learned so much! Though this one is indigenous to Colombia, there were so many birds migrating and it’s also mating season. And so they all turn out in their brightest colored wardrobe! (no kidding!) The male birds actually have brighter feathers during this time of the year! It was great!
