A brilliant orange-red moon slowly rises over the eastern horizon announcing the arrival of the harvest and bidding farewell to the summers end. Taken at the top of the hill above the family farm 40 kms. southeast of Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Wow, great capture Blair! I’m a little jealous here… LOL! I’ve been trying to get such a shot, but each time the moon looks like this, I’m in the car playing taxi to the boys, and by the time I can go back to get my gear and find a nice spot, the magic is gone… :-(
So I’ll do the next best thing, I’ll put this one in my favourites! :-)

Thank you Johanne! ...next time!! Lol! I should say, this was one of the first shots that turned out. But the moon just creeping up over the horizon was just awesome!!! It looked twice this size and so eerie! But with this P & S it just didn’t turn out. Couldn’t get a focus on it….I need a DSLR! Lol!

Thank you Vickie! It was so impressive. I did a little photoshopping here but not with the moon. It was quite dark so I highlighted the rest of the landscape and left the moon…it was that bright and orange! And it was something to experience!

Blair this is soooooooo cool! I have vivid memories of the first time I saw a moon like this in Saskatchewan. It was creeping up over a school yard in Regina while I was on my way home from a friend’s house. I thought for sure it was a UFO so I ran the rest of the way home in terror. Thanks for bringing that back for me (lol). But what an awesome capture with the contrasting blue sky!!!
