Devil's Marbles Panorama by Dieter Tracey

The site is known as Karlu Karlu to the land’s Aboriginal traditional owners.

A 5×1 panorama seems a bit excessive, but for the life of me I can’t find a crop that makes this work in a shorter format! so here it is, a few of the Devil’s Marbles lit up by late afternoon sun. And I reckon it would look pretty good as a 3m-long canvas! Best viewed larger than you can here, sorry ;)

Here’s another panorama from my central Australia series (please click to view):

Nikon D200, Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 (70mm), 1/40s @ f/8, five-image stitch.

Impressive formation with the big boulder on the left third, it seems as if you just push it it will tip….but I guess that’s just an illusion.
The pano you have stitched from these 5 shots is very beautiful and the light is really great Dieter.

  • thanks Steen, it’s just one of many boulders in this formation that seem to be on the verge of tipping over but, yes, most of them are still quite stable :)

Simply awesome !!! Love it! I wish we could see it bigger!

  • I’m looking into posting my panos somewhere else as links… I tried 500px but even though the display quality is excellent there is a bug which generates dodgy blurry thumbnails from long panoramas (I think the thumbnails are cropped from the display image rather than the original), so until that is fixed this might stay as big as it gets! thanks for taking the time to look and comment, really pleased you like it :)
