Artist's Description

Aerial view of the naturally pink Hutt Lagoon near Port Gregory in Western Australia. The pink colour is caused mainly by microscopic algae (Dunaliella salina), which thrive in the super-salty water. The algae are farmed in ponds in other parts of the lake; they are harvested for their pigments, which are used as food additives and natural colours.
