    Ah, and it was… before eventually dropping into the bottomless bottle. Kerouac was such an interesting and complex man. Love the sensitive eyes in your piece, John.

  • Haven’t quite got the look but the eyes have it. I have a soft spot for Jack and I feel he was misunderstood by a lot of his contemporaries but history has been kind to him and deservedly so. Thank you again Frannie. : D

    Jack was the giant killer whereas Burroughs was the beanstalk. I read “On the Road” when I was 12 and it left an indelible impression so much so it has subconsciously seeped into my literary imagination that sometimes it surfaces in my work in unexpected ways. A brooding and intelligent piece Jovan. 

  • Very clever analogy Annie. I think I first read “On the Road” and "The Big Sur " back when I was about 15 and I can see some influences in your earlier pieces but I think you’re just as good as Jack if not better. : D
