Great drawing of this iconic figure of American cinema and the Beat Generation. Was this done on rough paper using conte crayon, charcoal? Congratulations on the feature “The New Beat Generation.”

  • John Dicandia replied

Thanks Roy, JD is such a giant for the counter-culture and he is still relevant today. I used gouache and ink on watercolour paper.

he was only here 15 minutes, but he still stays around in our minds as long as the late night movies are with us,reat john art- hope all is well- i have beeen in a blank space the last few days-lots of canvases but idea,s seem advoiding me, so i have been drawing, waiting/for my next large painting to show up in my head-it happens usually when i have to much personal crap in my head-can you imagine the movies he might have been in? his he drove a little slower? but we come and go-puff-why i got to tay this long?i don,t know? take care john, keep arting paz

  • John Dicandia replied

JD would not be as big if he stayed around. His early death ensured him legendary status, which tells us alot about our western idealogy. Thanks to the Greeks and The Romans.
Maybe just take a break from the painting and divert your attention somewhere else for a bit and then it will come back to you. It happens to me all the time! :))
