extinction
I always felt a special love for seahorses (Hippocampus). I was really getting sad while finishing this piece of art … stupid humans, destroying everything and trying to get the last specimens before complete extinction.

Amazing piece Diana, and I share your love of seahorses, and your concern over their fate. Your imagery is very clever and sends a message… a very strong one in fact. I also love your processing style and the simplicity of the image. Well spoken with no words!

They are very wonderful creatures, I hadn’t realized they were an endangered species. it’s a very poignant piece. Well done Diana

I also love seahorses and find it difficult to believe (at times) that the Asian markets are such heavy consumers of them
I love the way you have depicted them in this piece and, I especially love the malevolent look of the eyes on the free one. The caged one shows its despair very clearly.
Your image speaks eloquently of their plight. Very well done.

I couldn’t agree more with your comment Diana. The seas are being overfished, polluted and used as a dumping ground. Te seahorse is such a fine and delicate image…full of vunerability. I love those intricate bird cages too…but only as decorative decoration…not to keep birds in…I prefer them to fly wild…feel the air beneath their wings.

A moving and imaginative piece of work. I often see seahorses down at the marina here so let’s hope that we’ll get our act together before they really are extinct. A ray of hope for the seahorse in the cage – I reckon it could squeeze through the top bars if it tried!
pattimus, 8 months ago
Amazing and brilliant, from an artisitic stand point and logic stand point. Always nice to see someone who actually gives a damn about animals and understands just what “extinction” means….
Very nice job

Did you know that seahorses are monogamous? If you kill one the other will never mate again!
So if you kill just one a whole genetic line dies out!
