Inside the “Riddling Hall” at Domaine Chandon, Yarra Valley – Vic. Riddling is the method used by hand to rotate each sparkling wine bottle – a quater turn at a time – to gradually slide the yeast lees (decomposing yeast cells) into the bottle neck, ready to be disgorged, dosaged & sealed with either a traditional cork or the modern equivalent – a crown seal. The job is called riddling and the person who does the job is “The Riddler”. Insert Batman jokes here …..
DOMAINE CHANDON is open daily for wine tastings, and guided tours are conducted three times per day at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm. Do yourself a favour and try their Sparkling Pinot Noir Shiraz!
Wow, what a great shot. Love the lighting and perspective. Well done. There are a couple of groups that revolve aroung wine and such that these would go nicely in.
LOL! I co host the “Vineyards & Wineries” group!!
