I saw this fungi on a hiking trip along the trail at Prairie Creek State Park in Northern California. The bright colors just took my breath away. I could hardly believe it was real. I hope I have captured some of its beauty.

Arches 140 Lb cold pressed paper, 1/4 sheet. Daniel Smiths and Windsor Newton Watercolors.

Painting is a way for me to express the beauty I see around me. I am most content when I am outside and able to be experiencing the beautiful and peace in our world. This beauty also inspires me to illustrated Bible verses that have been so helpful to me as I travel through life. My desire is that others will find encouragement and hope through these paintings in my collection titled The Picture of Scripture. I believe God’s word never comes back empty.

When I saw this first as a thumbnail, I thought it was a painting of nasturtiums.
