The Joshua tree thrives at elevations of 2,000 to 6,000 feet in the Mojave Desert. The largest of the yuccas, this plant varies in size from 25 to 40 feet high and 1 to 3 feet wide. This tree yields bell-shaped flowers that are 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inches wide. These yellowish-green flowers appear in clusters and bloom in the spring. The Joshua tree also produces an elliptical fruit.

Congrats on your feature Vickie!! Your image makes me want to go west!!! I just finished writing a series of articles on Arizona for a publisher and now you have added the visual !! :) Very beautiful!

  • many thanks Judith
This was the best part of the trip,. altho we love the lights at night on the strip, we are not gamblers, drinkers or smokers, so getting out of town was a breath of fresh air if you know what I mean, this was a great day. Our last before heading home. Glad you enjoyed it.
