While out on the lake fishing yesterday, I was watching a cute little Mink scramble along the shoreline, in and out of the rocks. Right out of the woods came this female Timber Wolf. She didn’t run along the shore, she just walked over the rocks, up the bank and down again along what I think was an animal trail. Given her color, we were able to see her through the trees and follow along with the boat. I got a lot of shots of her but found the two I am showing you the best (to me). I’ve never photographed a Timber Wolf till yesterday.

I love some of the things you see when you’re “out in the boat”. Fabulous, Vickie!! What a gorgeous capture of an amazing animal!! Very nicely done! :o)

  • thank you Deb. We had a seasonal camping site at Caddy Lake in 2008 and missed it the last few years, so have decided to try to get in on the draw for next year again. Nothing nicer than going fishing, driving around for photos then having the camper to come home to. My best shots in the park have been from the boat

Great shot…I seen my 1st in the wild last year and was so excited that I didn’t get a shot.

  • awww, well it is exciting I must say. so I know what you mean. I’ve ruined so many shots just shaking with excitement, and given I was in the boat bouncing on the waves, the steadiness here was not easy either.
Many thanks for taking the time to comment Gary, much appreciated.

Terrific capture Vickie. I love wolves and hate to see them wrongfully persecuted…especially by our neighbours to the south and that ignorant nitwit of a “beech” in Alaska. They’re just not properly educated about these majestic creatures. Anyway, first seeing these pics, I thought it was an Arctic Wolf because of the whitish colour. You are so lucky to have had this opportunity. I’m so envious. XO, ♥Ron♥

  • thank you Ron. This was such a surprise to see her walk out of the woods to the lakeshore trail. We were watching a little Mink which in itself was so cute, then Fred said, or whispered, “there’s a Timber Wolf”. Of course I went into the usual excited shakes and with the boat rolling on the water too I thought I would come off with nothing. We followed her along the shore (in the boat) as she went along the trail in and out of the bush. Due to her color she was easy to spot. Fishing was totally forgotten, hahaha
We too, value every creature in nature Ron!

Gorgeous!!! Spectacular capture my friend!! :O] xx

  • thank you hon. Just a lucky one for sure. If we hadn’t gone fishing and then found the little Mink scooting along the lakeshore we would have missed this pretty girl entirely.
Thanks for the favorites too hon, so appreciated.
