I came across this male Horned Lark in Waterton National Park, Alberta, Canada while driving the Bison Compound. It has a beautiful sound and let me capture a few shots while it sat on this rock.
You can listen to the sound of the Horned Lark at this website: Birdnote

The only true lark native to North America, the Horned Lark is a common, widespread bird of open country.

  • Small songbird (Sparrow-like in size)
  • Pale brown back.
  • Black chest patch.
  • Black face patch.
  • Yellow or pale throat.
  • Small “horns” on top of head.
