Yesterday, Mother’s Day 2010 I was given the surprise of my life. My daughter’s arranged for a ride on the prairie dog central with 16 friends and family members attending. They rented the caboose so that we could celebrate my husband’s and my 42nd wedding anniversary, Mother’s Day, my husband’s birthday and my upcoming birthday in June. There were gifts, food, friends, family and lots of laughter and great photographs. What a wonderful day. Note the shadows in front of the train engine is from the smoke covering the sun for a moment.
The Prairie Dog Central Railway is a short line railway owned and operated by The Vintage Locomotive Society Inc. and it is one of the oldest regularly scheduled vintage operating trains in North America. The Vintage Locomotive Society Incorporated is a non-profit organization whose primary objective is to maintain and operate the Prairie Dog Central Railway vintage steam train. It takes many volunteer members both on the train, at the station and in our shop to run the Prairie Dog Central Railway every operating day.
