Mondry Grain Co., Ardoch, ND.
Featured in Prairie Elevators of the Past – November 28, 2009
I spent hours researching this old elevator on the internet and found nothing that could tell me the age of it. Ardoch, ND that I came across on my visit to the US last week, netted me this beautiful old gem of a prairie icon. I would estimate the age to be around 100 years. If anyone knows, please let me know. The name on the building is Mondry Grain Co. The other wording is unreadable, but goes something like Feed, __, Seeds_.
See the secondary image for the name.

Nice capture, Vickie !
I bet, in its heyday, this place was a going concern.
Vickie Emms replied
thank you Stan, I found it smack dab in the middle of the prairie, but the farming there now is potatoes and sugar beets,,,,,,

What a fabulous find Vickie!! Don’t you just ♥ love coming across these old buildings … really makes you wonder about it’s past. Take Care ~ Rick & Deb ~ ☺

I tried so hard to find more about this old icon and it’s beauty to no avail. If we hadn’t sauntered across the prairie instead of the big I29 last week, I would never have come across this favorite type of photography for me. I just put the brakes on from miles away, because you know they are coming up from the distance,,,,,,,,,many thanks for your visit Rick & Deb!!

Lovely angle of perspective lending that tall proud appearance! The warm lighting is wonderful on the old paint and grains of the wood! A wonderful rural scene! : )

Well, am I ever slow in this area!! Vickie, this is just a spectacular set! What an incredible catch!! I might take on this one as a research project! I love it!!!
Vickie Emms replied
Blair, you have no idea how long I searched just to find the name Mondry. I letters are not clear enough to tell me, so I tried everything under the sun, Monday, Monray, you name it, lol. I hope you can find something, because Mondry IS the name of the grain company, that part is correct, but the words under Mondry Grain Company are hard to read too. That’s another photo not seen here. Thanks so much,,,,,,,,glad you like it, we spent a long time on this site, all around the building and in it too (Fred, not me). He got some interesting shots inside too. That got to be a long thank you, lol. I should tell the story by b/m!!
