Lesley, I started this collection when I was a child in the 1950’s, living in Italy, but soon lost interest. I never realized that my mother had kept the collection and added to it through the years, until I inherited in on her death in 2006. The touch, smell, colors of the stamps brought me back to that sense that all stamp collectors must share, of being in touch with treasures that connect through space and time. I had a fine morning with tweezers and matboard setting up these shots.
