Shot In The Heart of Melbourne 2014 Exhibition

The “Shot In The Heart Of Melbourne” (SITHOM) Exhibition opening night was in Friday 7th March at the Victorian Artists Society. Location, 430 Albert St, East Melbourne. A great night enjoyed by all and a sigh of relief from the tireless workers who spent many sleepless hours getting everything up and running so we – the exhibitors – could have an absolutely fabulous gallery where we can exhibit our work.

Wednesday 5th March was hanging day and for those (me) who had not done this before, it was an interesting experience. I was so glad I brought along “TOOLS” as adjustments and “tweaks” needed to be made. For the vertically challenged like myself, it would not have been possible to hang all my images without the help of a tall and kind gentl…

PicsaStock…????/

Firstly I would like to apologise for not being active and viewing/commenting all your wonderful works. I’ve been a little busy….start work 6.30am and finish 10.30-11pm…and when I do have time off, looking at a computer screen is not what I want to do. Tired eyes and mushy brain not a good combo for thinking.

Not that I’ve had my little vent…. I have been contacted through one of my websites from someone who is an " artist scout for PicsaStock", liked my work.

""I contacted you today as I am an artist scout for PicsaStock and I wanted to let you know that I think your photography is great.

PicsaStock is looking for photography like yours to help build worlds best authentic image platform. This awesome project will provide a place where you can earn 50% comm…

Bragging Rights

Not long home from the Whittlesea Show where I had entered some photos in the “Photography Competition”. I placed FIRST with this shot but what really blew my mind was it also won “Best shot in novice section”. I walked away with a grin from ear to ear.

New Lens experiment

I have just purchased a new lens. Sigma 120-400 mm. This “hobby” thing cost nearly as much as my business. I went out the other night to the park just over the rail line and did some experimenting. It is evidant that I need much more practice. It functions totally different to what I am used to. I tried just hand held as I couldn’t be bothered with lugging the tripod.

We have an over abundance of corellas and Sulfur Crested Cockatoos in our area. At dusk the corellas meet down at the park for their daily get together. There is such a cacophony of noise from them.

The moon through a magnifier "Take 2". Photos included this time!!

I’m quite web dyslexic. I know I have done adding images before but for the life of me couldn’t master it again. Sorry to all those who get tired of repeating “how to”. At this point I yell “COLIN I NEED HELP” (I know why I had kids now) I read and reread and finally looked at my journal where I had done it before only to discover a link I had made to Lisa Kennys journal. “How do I right click???” (I have a Mac) It is easy!!

The moon through a magnifier

My son has recently bought a “U beaut” telescope. Not one that can easily be transported by carrying from one location to the next. It has to be dismantled and
re-mantled. Two people to carry the scope then the tripod to follow. The box just fits into the back seat of my car. He has had an interest in astronomy for most of his life and now that he has his own income decided to pursue his hobby. We have spent hours looking at the stars and the moon. He would like to photograph through the telescope but it is proving to be problematic. The moon we thought would be easy, but not so. In the then we used our iphones to take the images through the lens.

Back from Vietnam!!

We have just experienced an amazing trip to Vietnam for four weeks. (myself, hubby and son). Have been back for a couple of weeks now and trying to get back into some sort of routine. Finding it that extremely hard. No time to relax before getting back into work. Seems like an eternity ago that we were away. What an amazing country. Did things a bit different to the usual tourist trail. Went over with a family, the wife was Vietnamese and stayed with her family in a little village where westerners don’t go. There were times we felt like little green men with two heads. The people were delightful and friendly and the family we stayed with couldn’t do enough for us. And the food!!!!!!! What can I say but delicious!!!!

If anyone has been to Vietnam they will understand how chaot…
