Jimmy Barnes - The working class man

Title: Jimmy Barnes
Photographer: Darren Stones
Location: North Melbourne Football Ground, Victoria, Australia
Date: Saturday 12 March 2011

“I’ve been a fan of Barnsey like forever. Well, as far back as the ’80s when he had his hair permed and nearly screamed his guts out during a concert at the Entertainment Centre in Melbourne. I remember those days well, they were rad. Loud, too.

In the ’90s, I saw Barnsey perform at Crown Casino. Boy, what a night. Some sheila tried to crack onto me, right in front of my missus. Cheeky. I think the sheila was pissed. Barnsey made it clear to everyone that night that the tables in front of the stage should not have been there. The crowd quickly removed the tables without much due care because they wanted to dance.

In 2011, Barnsey was sweating … it was warm. He was giving his all, but not quite screaming his guts out. This time, I had the chance to photograph him. The sheilas were there … just a little older, just like the working class man." – Darren Stones
