Parkes Observatory

The Parkes Observatory is a 64-metre Telescope used for Radio Astronomy. It is located about 20 kilometres north of Parkes along the Newell Highway in New South Wales, Australia. Parkes is 265 km west of Sydney, population 10,500.

The Observatory featured in the Australian-produced hit movie ‘The Dish’ in 2000. Sam Neill starred in the movie.

    wow! I don’t see how that little building can support that big dish! Would be fun to see inside this building though! It looks quite old.
