Darren Stones
A photograph of yours truly holding the bronze statuette award for winning the 2008 Grenfell Henry Lawson Festival of Arts Best Photograph of the Exhibition.
This photograph was taken by my father Gordon Stones at the Henry Lawson Obelisk at Grenfell, New South Wales, Australia during the 2008 festival, which was held during the Queen’s Birthday long weekend in June. The obelisk marks the birthplace of famous Australian poet Henry Lawson.
Available for sale asGreeting Cards, Matted Prints, Laminated Prints, Mounted Prints, Canvas Prints and Framed Prints

congratulation Darren and well deserved, its a beautiful looking trophy,is this an annual event ??
Darren Stones replied
Hi Hans. Thank you very much.
Yes, the festival is an annual event in Grenfell NSW, and people come from various parts of Australia to attend. I was impressed by the festival’s many activities and it was an excellent opportunity to make new friends.
Cheers.

hi darren
i was wondering where you got your photos matted so nicely

red bubble does a great job so i wont hesitate buying from them in the future
noelene has me doing hdr now its fun but i m still havent got a clue really
geoff really likes it so i will buy the programme for him
ive found 2 so far so im not sure which to get
noelene likes photomatrix but dynamic-photo seems easier to use
what would you reccomend
thanku for putting me on your watchlist
julie
Darren Stones replied
Hi Julie.
RB do a good job of the matted prints and they are reasonably priced.
I can’t recommend a HDR program as I don’t use one, however it seems Photomatix is very popular amongst many photographers.
Thanks for making Gordon and I feel welcome during the festival. We had a ball. :)
Cheers.

Congrats Darren! (I know it’s a tad late!) Is that houses I see in the background??? My god! Grenfell has changed…that used to be all paddocks!
Darren Stones replied
They sure are houses, Penny. Grenfell has kicked-on since they discovered gold there. :)

i know this is 5months late, but wow. congrats on winnig the award, that must have been GREAT!
Darren Stones replied
Thanks, MT. Was a buzz at the time, and to be frank it still is a buzz having won it.
The trophy is sitting on my office desk, and this photograph has been ordered as a mounted print from RedBubble. Interestingly, I found out about the competition via Hop Dac who posted a forum thread.
Thanks for dropping by. Keep up your fine efforts.
MuscularTeeth
well
a) congrats on winning the award
b) congrats on getting a mounted print sale. niiiice. never sold anything big like that. only cards and t’s. one day… (dreams).
:)
has this lead to more competition entries by you? you should enter more, you have great assie landscape art.
Darren Stones replied
thanks MT.
Must clarify that I purchased the mounted print of myself for myself. It’s a Christmas present to myself. :)
I’ve sold a mixture of items here at the bubble, but nothing which will lead me to a huge superannuation package – or even a little one for that matter. lol.
I’m not a regular competition entrant because I have to be careful with my pennies, so I tend to target comps where I believe I have a reasonable chance. Competitions aren’t really an objective of mine, but when recognition comes my way it’s nice.
Getting published regularly with words and photographs packages, and selling photographs is what my main objectives are. Have to be patient – there’s no such thing as an overnight success in this caper. Beleive me, I’m still learning what this is about. :)
MuscularTeeth
well your doing well my friend and i certainly hope you succeeed.
Kristina K
congrats my friend, i have entered my first comp so wish me luck…:)) k
Darren Stones replied
Thanks. Good luck in the competition, Kristina.

Dennis
PS: Bit if I ever see another photograph of Dog Rocks…....... 8-)
Darren Stones replied
My best photographic achievement to date, Dennis. It’s not my favourite pic, but hey, it means a lot nonetheless.
Hahaha…Dog Rocks is popular – that’s for sure. Methinks I was in the right time at the right place. Must have held my mouth right when I hit the button. ;)
Cheers.
Dennis Gay
G’day again Darren,
The problem with Dog Rocks is that you let so many people know about it, here and in other sites. I get the feeling now that every photographer in Victoria has been there and out-of-staters are lining up to get a shot! 8-)
You have a great series of that site by the way.
GB
D!
Darren Stones replied
I tried my best to keep it a secret, Dennis, but 1344 views, put paid to that. :)
