The Hawk Beach, Nova Scotia, Canada after what must have been a really big storm as the whole beach was feet deep in kelp ripped up from the sea bed.
The Hawk Beach is located on the southerly tip of Cape Sable Island. Walk this white sandy beach and explore the 1500 year old drowned forest; a broad area of fossil tree stumps still rooted in the original soil. Exposed at low tide.
This beach is a protected area, home to the piping plover and many other birds, which makes it one of the best birding areas in Nova Scotia.
From the beach you can view the Cape Sable Lighthouse, the tallest lighthouse in Nova Scotia, standing at 101 feet tall.
