Peggy's Point Lighthouse, Peggy's Coveby David Davies
Peggy’s Point Lighthouse, Nova Scotia, Canada, is an octagonal lighthouse built on a granite outcrop at the entrance to St. Margaret’s Bay on the east coast of the province, just south of Halifax. The original wooden structure was built in 1868 and was replaced by the current structure in 1914.
Pentax Optio S, which takes point and shoot to a new level as the screen is now so dark that you have to literally point, or rather aim. And shoot! And hope! And wait, because you don’t know what you’ve got until you get to a computer!
Thank you. It’s a very impressive lighthouse. If I had a dime for every time it’s been photographed, I’d be writing this from the back seat of my Rolls Royce on the way to dinner at Maxim’s!
Marvellous capture of this Canadian icon, David. Lovely composition and lighting, in spite of the Optio’s little foibles. Must be a bit like going back to the film days!
Thanks, Mike, it just so happened that I had my little Optio, which I carry in my glove compartment because we had gone to visit a clinic in Halifax. The trip to Peggy’s Point was not planned. Next time I’ll have my big Canon P&S with me! lol
