I emigrated from Wales to Canada at the age of 23, unfortunately having to sell my Leica M2 to get some money to start me off in my new country. Since my arrival in 1964, I have lived in Toronto, Ottawa, Nanaimo B.C., Germany, Ottawa again and now that I have retired, in Nova Scotia.
In 1980 my family and I took a year off, bought a VW camper and spent a year travelling through Europe and North Africa. At the end of that year, we found ourselves at the Canadian Forces Base in Lahr, in the Black Forest of Germany, where we stayed for the next eight years!
I have been interested in photography since I was in grammar school, a lot of years ago, but have never had any training, formal or otherwise! I just learn what I can from what I see. I don’t think of myself as an artist, just as someone who enjoys recording what he sees.
Most of the pictures on this site began life as Agfachrome slides, taken with either an Olympus OM-10 or an Olympus OM-2 SLR. I had four lenses, a 50mm 1.8, a 55mm 1.2, a 135mm 2.8 and a 24mm 2.8. I currently use a Canon Powershot 710IS P&S though would love to get a DSLR one day.
I hope you get as much pleasure looking at my pictures as I got taking them.
