This male Speke’s Weaver (Ploceus spekei) was taking a rest from the frenetic nest building that goes on the spring. Once the nest is complete, he will then need to seek the approval of a female. This is not always a foregone conclusion and the poor chap might see his work kicked to the ground.
Photographed at Lolomarik farm, near Timau, Kenya, in the foothills of Mount Kenya.
Canon 1DMkII with Canon 300mm IS lens and Canon 1.4 extender.

Living for partly in Italy, partly in Phuket and partly in other locations around the world – Hong Kong & Kenya when I can – I spend a lot of time photographing anything and everything. I particularly enjoy the challenge of capturing shots of wildlife large and small – from elephants to insects. A wider selection of my work can be seen on my website at www.dgcphoto.com.
