Artist's Description

A follow-on from Arachno-nursery 1, this shot shows the group once they had reformed in a cosier part of the nest at roof level of the pergola their nest was attached to. Not quite ready to head to the dangers of the outside world, these babies just wanted to snuggle together. Below are a couple of shots of them climbing the threads from the lower part of the nest.
Having experimented with various shots in poor light levels, I took this one with the 40D’s built-in flash.
Taken in my garden in Tuscany, Italy.

Canon EOS 40D with Canon 70-200mm L IS lens at 106mm and with a Canon 25mm extension tube; ISO 500 f9 1/250 with flash.

As with Arachno-nursery 1, this shot is best viewed large, unless you don’t like spiders!
