Is this a poppy or a butterfly? When I uploaded it into Lightroom, it seemed to me that the paper delicacy of the petals and their shape were just like a butterfly fluttering down to settle on a plant.
This is the only one of this series that I cropped – it was taken in landscape but I felt it looked better portrait. Apart from that, it’s as is came from the camera. Taken this morning, 22 May 2009 in a field just below our house, looking into the sun.

Living for partly in Italy, partly in Phuket and partly in other locations around the world – Hong Kong & Kenya when I can – I spend a lot of time photographing anything and everything. I particularly enjoy the challenge of capturing shots of wildlife large and small – from elephants to insects. A wider selection of my work can be seen on my website at www.dgcphoto.com.

The whole series is just lovely. There is something very appealing and cheering about poppies.

  • Many thanks, Chijude, I’m very pleased you like them:)
