This butterfly was part of the collection at the Phuket Butterfly Farm, an organisation that not only exhibits butterflies, but also is involved in a breeding programme for a number of species. The butterflies fly around in a large, netted enclosure which you can walk around as well – it’s not unusual for them to land on you. The number of species seems to vary with the season, so sometimes there is a greater variety to be seem than others, but it’s always worth a visit.

Living for partly in Italy, partly in Phuket and partly in other locations around the world – Hong Kong & Kenya when I can – I spend a lot of time photographing anything and everything. I particularly enjoy the challenge of capturing shots of wildlife large and small – from elephants to insects. A wider selection of my work can be seen on my website at www.dgcphoto.com.
