Dear Members of the Indigenous to East and Southern Africa Group,
Along with Maggie Meintjes I have been hosting this group for around seven years and it has always been a pleasure. Not only have I been treated almost daily to some amazing wildlife photography and artwork, but I have made many online friends in this special RB community. However, all good things must come to an end. I have been finding it increasingly difficult recently to devote the time I should like to spend in hosting the group, owing largely to other commitments that are taking up much of my time. This is not likely to change and therefore I feel it is only right to withdraw from hosting the group.
I have spoken to Maggie and she is happy to continue once her temporary computer problems have been resolved. However, I …
As a host of Indigenous to East & Southern Africa, I’m indulging in a little bit of self-promotion. You may recall that just over a year ago I posted a note about the fruits of my labours in my alter ego as a novel writer. On that occasion, my note was to announce my first novel, Rare Traits, the modern/historical scifi/forensic thriller that tells the tale of a 15C Renaissance artist who is still alive today. Rare Traits has received a good number of five star reviews which have encouraged me to continue writing. The reason for this note is to let you know that the sequel to Rare Traits, Delusional Traits is now available as an ebook and a paperback from Amazon.
Here’s a synopsis of what it’s all about:
Is The Truth Delusion…? …Or Is Delusion The Truth?
Congratulations to Margaret Hyde for her winning entry Black Rhino mother and baby in the latest Indigenous to East & Southern Africa Group Avatar Challenge. This great shot will be the group’s avatar for the next six months. Thanks to all who entered and voted.
If you are interested in using your artistic/photographic talents to help others, look at cloudheadArt who now have a sales page with a difference on RB. Purchase from their interesting portfolio of products and you will be helping a small, underprivileged community in Argentina to raise their quality of life. As a photographer (with no affiliation to cloudhead, just an admiration) I find their project original and appealing. Please take the time to check out their stuff.
As a host of Indigenous to East & Southern Africa, I hope you don’t mind me posting on a personal project that I’ve been working on now for three years – when I’m not taking photographs, I have aspirations as an author!
My first novel, Rare Traits, has now been published as an eBook on Amazon and I wanted you to know that there is an opportunity later this week to download a copy free for a limited period – that is, during the 48-hour period from 12.00 am Thursday 18th October until 11.59pm Friday 19 October. Those timings are for the West Coast of the US, so if you live, for example, in the UK, you would have to add 8 hours to them – i.e. in the UK it will be free from 8am on 18th until 7.59 am on Saturday 20th. (Pacific Standard Time, PST, is curr…
If it’s out there, flaunt it! I have just finished a complete revision of my personal photo site dgcPhoto.com using a rather nice theme from ThemeForest called photolux. Please check it out. Any comments/suggestions would be gratefully received. David
Congratulations to Graeme Hyde for collecting the most votes in the latest Avatar challenge. His image, One-eyed Pecker will now be the Indigenous to East & Southern Africa Group’s Avatar until the end of January 2013.
