A brilliant red cardinal pops out from the blue sky and new, light green leaves in a tree at Wilson Grove Wildlife Area north of Sumner, Iowa in the spring of 2012. The sun glints off his watchful eye. I think this is a Northern Cardinal.

I live in northeast Iowa on an acreage. I grew up on a farm, and learned to love nature a great deal. I have worked as a veterinarian and currently work for a landscaper. The many experiences I have had in life have given me a “wide eye” when I look at the world around me.

Ain’t he pretty?!!! Nice shot!! :o)

  • Thank you. I think he is absolutely gorgeous! (Especially since he sat still long enough for me to get close enough to get a great pic!)
