Shelf Fungus Behind Strong Diagonal by

Walking through Wilson Grove Wildlife Area just north of Sumner, Iowa in early spring before much color has begun to show can be challenging to find interesting images to photograph. Here I found a nice shelf fungus on a slim tree trunk popping out as white (near white) among many grays. A strong diagonal is created by a branch in the foreground outside of the area of focus. Together it all makes for a lovely image.

I live in northeast Iowa on an acreage. I grew up on a farm, and learned to love nature a great deal. I have worked as a veterinarian and currently work for a landscaper. The many experiences I have had in life have given me a “wide eye” when I look at the world around me.
