"Yet Never Say Die"

If I were to look
And judge entirely
By temporary truth,
That the rose withers
And the trees
Bare skeleton
No leaf to hide
Appear protesting
The light,
Then I would say,
In the end
All succumbs
To winter and night;

But I have seen
From the seed
A return of the cry-

As that wise infant
When born seems
An old spirit
On the new fly,

Knowing the glory
And power of wings
With seeming
Endless sky…
Perhaps then
And only then
Would I admit
Of seasons

Yet never
Say “Die!”
