I’ve just recently finished my first year of school at the university of Toronto & Sheridan College for art and art history. Now with all the stress of handing in assignment gone I’m excited about all the free time I have to create and the freedom ill have now to create without rules or guidelines.
My style is modern batik a technique I learned though a workshop in my high school. The art of batik painting was introduced to East Africa in the 1960s from Indonesia. This involved the applying of simple outlines, light to dark dyes and using wax resist as the basis for separating colours. The black outlines and fragmented background are what make it modern.
