brilliant shot there Jim..were you riding in a chase plane?? :)

  • Thanks Keith! No, I was on the ground. I decided to shoot shutter priority this year at 1/800. That too care of the camera shake. I used a 170-500mm Sigma APO which on my Sony body meant 750mm. That and a little cropping.

Fantastic work my friend…beautiful !!! Very crisp shot like for f/6.3… glad you pulled it off…I did some shots of Blue Angels in the past so I do realize how tough it could get….

  • Thanks! We shot the show two years ago and I had the camera set on manual. Big fail, none clear. I have learned since then that a fast shutter speed makes up a lot for a large aperture. It is tough, I shot about 400 pictures with about 40 useful and 20 really good.

Excellent capture taken at just the wright time to show off the vapour on the wings.

  • Thanks Shane! That was one of my goals that day. It’s my favorite thing to see, it’s just amazing.

This one caught my eye too, and another great feature. How did you get this shot? It’s so clear and vivid. Awesome stuff :-)

  • Thanks Neil! It wasn’t that hard, I’m pretty good at making myself into a reasonably stable tripod and shooting at 1/800 really helps to take our a lot of the camera shake. That and Sony has an incredible anti shake in their cameras.
