ooops, just read the side … yep, a peony! I have a white plant, but it is a baby … sometimes they bloom, sometimes they turn brown & fall off … sigh

  • DesignsByDeb replied

Thank you so much! My mom planted these several years ago. Year one they are shocked from the transplanting, year two they establish good roots, year three they get normal growth. If it doesn’t grow much the third year transplant it to another spot in the yard. They seem to like morning sun and evening shade.

cool .. thanks …. I think this Spring will be it’s 4th year … funny the best year it had flowers was the first year it bloomed

  • DesignsByDeb replied

Have you had plenty of rain each year? A drought might have stunted it. If you had normal rainfall, chances are that it just doesn’t like the spot it’s in. Plants can be persnickety about things like that sometimes. Why not move it to a new spot in the spring, or perhaps after it stops blooming?

hi Deb … I think it is in a good spot, plenty of sun … we don’t have much rain here at all … high desert … when it blooms & grows I water often tho … we have snow more than anything ….

A desert? Interesting. I didn’t know peony would grow in a desert. Amazing how plants will grow nearly everywhere.
