Big Bend National Park runs along the border between Mexico and the United States. In times past, border crossings were open and citizens could pass between the two countries. Today, the borders are closed and Mexican towns have suffered from this. In the distant horizon of this image, you can see Boquillas, Mexico, that once thrived with business from American tourists. The area is very arid and dry, not making it conducive to agriculture or other types of commerce. When the borders closed, the Mexican residents were probably left without a way to make a living.
