A Wizened Lady by

It might make for a good anti-smoking skin-aging ad, if she didn’t look so great. She was such a lovely lady, living in a village outside Mandalay where everyone was involved in different parts of the process of producing wonderful metal bowls.

Some people panned for the base metal, some people took it and melted it, others made the crude bowls, still others used hammers and tools to make them look pretty, then they were sold by the folks who lived up by the main road.

I’m not sure what this lady’s role was in all the above. I like to imagine that it was her job to oversee everything while smoking cheroots, nodding sagely, keeping a beady eye on everyone.
