Don’t forget about visiting ArtExpress 2011 this year, it is on till April 10.
The exhibition is free at the Art Gallery of NSW.
I received an award at the opening of the exhibition, the “S & S creativity award” which was a great honour.
ARTEXPRESS is a dynamic and popular series of exhibitions featuring a selection of outstanding artworks developed for the artmaking component of the 2010 NSW Higher School Certificate examination in Visual Arts from students in both metropolitan and regional NSW. It encompasses a broad range of approaches and expressive forms, including ceramics, collections of works, designed objects, documented forms, drawing, graphic design, painting, photomedia, printmaking, sculpture, textiles and fibre, and time-based media.
“In 2010, 9783 students submitted artworks as part of the 2010 Higher School Certificate Visual Arts examination.
The bodies of works of 485 students were nominated for ARTEXPRESS.
From these, the works of 326 students were selected for inclusion in ARTEXPRESS exhibitions on display in 2011 (325 from NSW and one from the Australian International School, Singapore). This include 162 government school students. Some student works are displayed in more than one exhibition. The regional exhibitions include local students.
There are 11 separate exhibitions in total. Four are held in metropolitan Sydney and seven in regional centres of NSW."
So out of 9783 students who submitted artworks as part of the 2010 Higher School Certificate Visual Arts examination only 44 were chosen for the Art Gallery of NSW.
