The Arizona Historical Museum in Tucson, Arizona, USA, is a wonderful place to learn about the state’s diverse history and take photographs. One of the rooms is dedicated to the Civilian Conservation Corps (1933-1942). The following is the entire poem that is in this old typewriter:

CC&C

Oh, give me a camp
And a pot and a pan
Where they call you a boy
But you’re really a man.
Where you eat and you eat
‘Till your stomach starts bulging
Then a Mess Sergeant stops
You from swelling and bursting.

You get up in the morn
At an early o’clock
And you work ‘till you think
That you never will stop.
And then after working
You may write a letter
Because after stopping
You’re feeling much better.

Some evening you May
Like to dabble in copper
Unless a good movie-show
Puts on the stopper.
A CCC camp
Is a place you’ll call home
Much better than being
Far out and alone.

Photographed with a Fujifilm HS10 with a free texture layer from stock.xchng.com applied.

Wonderful idea on how to display an idea indirectly……also the slant of the typwriter (I remember when I used these) adds to the imbalance of the antique…..very nice presentation. warm regards…..

  • Thank you for the wonderful comments, Jeff. I really appreciate them.

    Beautiful capture and wonderful color.

  • Thank you so much. Except for the subtle texture, it’s pretty much the color right out of the camera.
