This piece is a combination of two of my photographs taken at the San Xavier del Bac mission (built in the late 1700s) in Tucson, Arizona, USA. Renovation on the left tower was completed in January, 2009, but lack of funding has delayed the renovation of the right tower.

I started by converting them to high contrast HDR (which I usually don’t care for) and combining them with a free texture layer. I did a couple of other versions so I could play around with layers and blending modes, but I like this one the best.

Photographed with a Panasonic DMC-FZ50.

    this is wonderful… beautiful work!

  • Thank you so much, LisaBeth. I don’t have too many photos I can play with like this, but I thought this combination would work.

I like what you did here. Very creative!

  • Thanks very much, Justin. I haven’t taken many photos lately. None of my photo buddies want to go out in the heat, so I’m playing on the computer.

I am not too motivated either. It is hard to find new things to shoot in an area where one lives. The subjects are out there I know but I too need to do new approaches to the same old stuff.

  • Give yourself an assignment like shooting from a different perspective, etc. That’s what I do on the Tucson Doors and Windows tour.
