Photographed at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, Tucson, Arizona, USA after the seventh wettest winter on record. I’ve seen great wildflower displays before, but nothing like this year. I was told by a gardener there that the only thing that could have made the flowers better was a little more rain earlier. Desert marigolds (yellow) and penstemons (pink).
Photographed with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50.

Thanks very much, Dot. This was a somewhat lucky shot. I have a very bad knee and so can’t bend down (or, I can bend down, but then can’t get up~LOL). I set the aperture on f/11, put the camera down into the flowers and tripped the shutter with a cable release. It worked.
I can sympathize with your knee problem! I shattered my left femur in late 2006 and now I have a titanium plate and 12 screws in my thigh and knee. I, too, could get down on my other knee, but need help getting back up. I’m glad you were able to get the picture the way you did. Necessity is the mother of invention… Today I was photographing my orchid and my little tripod was too short, so I got my spaghetti pot, put it upside down on the table, and set the tripod on top of that. It worked like a charm! LOL
If we really want something badly enough, we’ll figure out a way to do it. Whatever works.
