On A Cold Winter Morning by Linda Gregory

Currently unavailable for purchase

Several of us in the neighborhood have black Labrador retrievers. We exercise the dogs on a local golf course before the golfers are out. It’s quite the sight to see four or five dogs all chasing their toys. On this particular morning it was very cold and the steam was coming off one of the water hazzards. What looks like snow is actually frost on the fairway. We couldn’t get Amelia (the only female in the group) to sit where I wanted her so this photograph is a composite (my first one). Later when I looked at the photo I thought I should add the snowfall, so this is a created photo in many ways.

Photographed with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50.

  • Thank you, Tara. This is one of the first photos with my new camera, besides being my first composite creation. Lots of firsts in this photo.

Nice job, never would have known. My morning will look like that tomorrow. It snowed yesterday, melted today and we’re in for a bigger snow tomorrow.

  • Thank you, Kay. I’m glad we rarely have snow here in the valley, but sometimes on the top of the mountains. I’ve shoveled enough snow in my life.

Linda … ya done gooooood!!! VERY clever … I would never have known it wasn’t the real McCoy!!!! Your “snow” is wonderfully realistic!!!!!

  • Thanks very much, Lois. I experimented with several tutorials until I came up with the most realistic.

Wow! This is fantastic work, Linda. Holiday card worthy, for sure!

  • It would make a great holiday card, Jamie. I’m going to have some of these cards printed for my friend whose dog is in the photo. She’s helped me a lot with our dogs.

Magic, pure MAGIC! This could be a scene right out of a Jacquie Lawson e-card, Linda!

  • Yes, it could. I love Jacquie Lawson e-cards. I send them a lot. I can even picture an animation of this scene when Amelia (the dog) realizes there are lots of ducks in the pond.
