Grandparents circa 1914

Grandparents circa 1914

This photograph of my grandparents and friends was in my aunt’s photo album that my cousin let me scan for posterity. My grandparents are the two people just to the right of the fellow in the center. I love this photograph because of the wonderful composition and reflections. I took the color out of two texture layers and put them on top of the black and white photograph.

That is so awesome, Linda. Great on many fronts.
    1. time period – looks like late Gibson Girls era (quick Google shows Gibson Girls spanned through 1915).
    2. illustrates swim suits of the era
    3. it’s a party of friends
    4. and it’s your grandparents! Wow.
Your effects enhance it. Definite fav.
Your grandfather looks like he might have enjoyed distance-running. :)
  • Linda Gregory replied

Thank you so much for doing some research on this photo, Frannie. It wasn’t dated, but I guessed it was before my mother came along in 1916. My grandfather was very athletic looking, wasn’t he? Today we’d call him a hunk. I’ve got a few more from the photo album I’ll have to pull out. Cars and such.

  • Linda Gregory replied

Thank you, Ric. I put the textures on top. Seems to work either way.

Did that with my last image, It works either way but can have different results, especially when sandwiching the photo or texture with the other.
