New Women’s Chiffon Tops. They’re just so chiffon-y.
The back blocks of Madaba, a central Jordanian town. The mosque in front was amazing and grand. There was a church behind me looking out on it. The call of the muezzin ring out alongside the bells of the church.

there is something hauntingly beautiful about the sound of both the call to pray and church bells – but together it must have sounded amazing – we all need to be reminded that from 700-1402 Arabs accupied Spain and large parts of the mediteranean and Norht Africa…the muslim tolerance of other religions, melted culturally – as a musician I can often hear the legacy of the moorish influence in gregorian chants etc etc…please continueing sharing images and your written perspectives of the middle east!
In this part of the middle east there are constant reminders that from the 11th Century to the 13th Century the Crusaders fought the armies of Islam for control of the Levant and Jerusalem.
You’re right, the sounds of both the call to prayer and church bells are haunting and beautiful. I still marvel at the calls here in Doha 4 times a day (I’m not normally awake for the morning call at 4:30am) and their beautiful minor key melodies. A constant reminder of where you are.
wonderful comments and discussion thus far. Thanks for the info and capture. Thanks for sharing with the Art of the Middle East group.
Love this kind of photography, the real stuff, not the polished bright neat close to perfect images that are so far from reality, even though they might be real…If you know what I mean..But Life in all its colours, shapes and flavours are embedded within this picture and I like It! Voilà!
excellent work well done
