Artist's Description

The first recorded flight down the Derwent Valley was on the 28th March 1943 piloted by Guy Gibson and a small crew known then by name of Squadron X before the name of 617 squadron. In April 1943 Lancaster after Lancaster roared down the valley at night and day for a period of six weeks, which was meet with complaints by locals form serious vibrations and loss of roof tiles, the training was also blamed for the drop in milk and egg production.
At the same time has the training of the Dambusters.
