This was taken during the 2009 Club Motori Italia Collinsvale Hillclimb which is run over a short stretch of the old Collinsvale Road near Hobart, Tasmania. I took a lot of photos that day, but this is the standout I think, only one other rivalling it. It was a lovely little Alfa Romeo Alfasud which was nowhere near the fastest car of the day, but was a joy to watch, pretty to look at, and sounded great! Also being red and Italian it fits the mood of the day… Taken on my little Nikon Coolpix pocket camera, as I had not rediscovered the joys of film when I took this photograph. Taken on Sunday, March 15 2009 just after 2pm, the esposure was 1/60 at f/5.2 with ISO-64 and a 113mm equivalent lens setting.
Thanks! This one and another of a BMW 6 series coupe came out with a lovely sharp car and blurred background. The others range from ok to poor, but I was only using a pocket point and shoot and I was shooting from a long way off, right up the hill. Gave a nice vantage point of nearly a kilometer of road though, so it was worth it! Next year I hope to be in a car on the road in that event instead of watching!
