I had an assignment that i also used to give to my students, The moon our nearest neighbor, its a brilliant assignment, you can tackle it from any position eg… geography, astrology, myths and legends, Keith moon , man going to the moon, the cow jumpas over the hill etc …..and the list goes on….

For this shot I used a 100 mm-400 mm Canon lens (L series) with a 1.4x extender (also by Canon). I waited for the moon to be low on the horizon, as the moon is larger then.

Hi, Just a little extra on the moon. I used a Canon Mark lll, the Canon 100-400mm L series lens plus a 1.4x teleconverter. I took it with the moon low in the horizon. I used a remote to trigger the camera and locked the mirror. The actual focal distance was 560 mm. And the shutter speed was 1/90 with an aperture of f/8 and an exposure bias of -1.
Thanks for all your comments on the moon. we are getting out of the summer season and into the rainy season, so I am not even sure when I am going to see the moon again.
