Color view of Crater Lake Oregon

This is the actual color of Crater Lake in Oregon. It is the deepest lake in the world, and because it has minimal animal or plant life in the lake, it is a pristine blue color. The lake was formed from the blast of a volcano (Wizard Island is the remnant). The only boats allowed are the tour boats, which are few and far between.

I have always wanted to go there! I have family in Oregon and we never seem to make it there. They only allow one boat on the lake and that is a tour boat I believe. I think you can fish from the bank only.

Thank you. Crater Lake is well worth the trip. I don’t know how much fishing there is in the actual lake as one of the park rangers told us that the lake was bionutrient poor and they were slowly trying to change it back to its original pristine shape, before non-native species of fish and plant life were introduced. They do have some fishing off the banks and dock, and even off Wizard Island. There is quite a bit of fishing in streams thru out the park.
I must say, that Crater Lake is breath takinig to visit.

Thanks for the comments. Wow, almost falling in the deepest lake in the world, I can only imagine. There are so many places that one could “go overboard” at Crater Lake. Kind of scary, especially as many of them are way up high.

Nice shot of this derid,I was there in 97.Interesting that the native peoples kept its secret all those years. It was only discovered after we conquered the air.
