These galahs and rainbow lorikeets have a well-established and well-choreographed routine about who takes precedence at the feeding station. Lorikeets rule! They will outface anything, up to and including sulphur-crested cockatoos. Galahs simply don’t have a chance. They just back away and wait for scraps.
The other day I noticed that one galah in particular was objecting to being banished, and was making quite threatening gestures at the lorikeets.
Shortly after this shot, the galah engaged in battle and I was lucky enough to catch it – although the quality isn’t high, I was pleased to capture this, as it’s not something I’ve seen in years of feeding the birds.
