August 7 2011: I first saw Kitten’s new baby out of the pouch earlier in the week but for the next 3 nights she either didn’t come when I called, or it was pouring with rain and I didn’t wait. And then last night, down she came with baby aloft, eager for her apple. The baby allowed me to stroke it, although it did wriggle a bit, so perhaps it wasn’t that keen … Kitten is, as usual, concerned only with food. I do believe I could pick that baby up off her back and so long as she was eating, she wouldn’t even notice.
All these possum babies do tend to look the same. Here is Mrs Murgatroyd’s 2010 baby, and who could tell the difference???
It’s not surprising that once the babies leave their mothers, I really can’t tell them apart. Kitten has a notched ear, so I always know who she is.
