This pretty bird, a house finch (thanks to Lance for the identification), was helping itself to blossoms on a vine growing on the High Line, an amazing urban renewal project in New York. (For a great read, Google it!)
We walked along the full length of this old elevated railway track, now a lush garden alive with birds and blossoms, as well as tourists and savvy New Yorkers who lounge about in the sun, topping up their tans. Just last weekend, the second stage of the High Line was opened, effectively doubling its length – I’m so sorry we missed this! For anyone planning a visit to New York, the High Line simply has to go on the Top 10 List of Things to Do in the Big Apple – it’s almost an out-of-body experience in such a huge and frenetic city.
